grace

breathe in grace

breathe in.
through your nose.
slow like...

do it again.

If your child sees you do this, they know.

They know you are attempting to breathe in grace for yourself and them.
You are getting every bit of oxygen into your brain as possible to make a logical, not angry, choice. Logical. Calm. Breathe...

Breathe in.

Grace is unmerited, divine help from God, reprieve, courtesy.
I like to think of grace like how God forms pearls.
I wear pearls for this very reason.
When a piece of sand gets stuck inside the oyster, it emits a substance that covers the sand with a layer or coating that make it just a little less irritating. It is still there, still irritating, just a little less. More grace is applied. And more, and more layer by layer. Until the irritation is gone and a pearl is born.  Every pearl is unique and different yet beautiful.  Every pearl started out an an irritation. A place for growth.

Mkay Momma...Bare with me here...You are an oyster. You have an irritating piece of sand in your shell that is driving you absolutely nuts.  Name it. I don't know if that is your toddler's whining, your job, the never ending laundry, or being stuck at home in a snow storm with three kids. You are on the verge. Irritated. Just when you cannot handle even one second more of fighting and stepping on spilled milk--you remember on Daniel Tiger he sings about taking a deep breath.  You try it. You take that deep breath and call out to Jesus for strength to not break down. To not give in. To not yell. To not...

Grace sweeps in.

God sweeps in and pours a balm of smooth, cooling grace onto your irritating sand.

A little relief. He does this for you over and over and over again. You don't deserve it. He gives it freely. Pour grace onto your area of growth. Layer by layer it gets a little easier to handle. It get's just a little easier as your mothering years go on. Just a little. You get a little better, through Christ, you grow. A pearl necklace would be nice, too.... ;)

So breathe in grace today momma. Grace for yourself, grace for your piece of sand.  Let's all let His grace cover us today. I am going to need it if this snowstorm hits. Praying for myself now....

-honestly with love,
Rach
