An Invitation: Practicing God's Presence / part1
Unmade Bed: looking at what was a good nights sleep
So here it is. Day 1 of many in the project.
This is my unmade bed this morning.
Those are some crazy sheets. And where did the other pillow go?
I woke up to hearing babies happily eating in their highchairs with Paul and then hit the ground running thereafter. Making the bed is another task on the 'if I get time' list.
It is okay though. I spent the day playing with the boys, being with my husband and getting a pedicure before baby three arrives. Sometimes there are just more important things in life than making your bed. Yes, it's prettier, makes me feel happier and it's easier to get into at night but unnecessary when you boil it all down. Being present with my husband and son's pays much more into our soul bank than having a tidy bed.
In reading brother Lawrence today, I simply read some background on him. It was interesting to know that his famous books were simply letters to a few nuns, priests, and lay people. His letters were later published into books after his death. They have since effected people across denominations. He did not sit down with the intention of writing a book in the mid 1600's. He was simply present, writing and sharing his soul with others. He probably wrote those letters aside an unmade bed. :)
May we all focus on being present in our day today- not just at the 'to do list' on our fridge. Just be with God. Just be with others. I give you permission to leave your bed unmade today.
So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. -Romans 12:1
